When you visit Auckland city book in a cruise out to Tiritiri Matangi Island in the Hauraki Gulf you can catch the ferries from down town Auckland, the island is a reserve for birds and there are walks all around the island the views out across the ocean are fantastic and a great place to spend the entire day, we were there a few months back and fully recommend visiting the island.
